San Diego Climate Action Plan
Hotter temperatures and increased frequency of extreme weather events are a challenge for every city in the world, and San Diego is no exception.

Adapting to climate change is a massive, multi-dimensional challenge. One aspect of adaptation is urban forestation: increasing the land area of a city that is occupied by tree canopy. Urban forestation improves air quality and lowers local temperatures.
Increasing urban tree cover depends on selecting the right kind of tree for the right location, and making a commitment to nourish, water, and monitor it. To plant a tree or get involved in planning, see the Get Trees tab and/or subscribe to our newsletter.
